"This is an important practical step for overcoming the existing state borders and for drawing our nations closer together," Minister Azubalis said during the telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart. The minister offered the support of the Government of Lithuania for a smooth implementation of this plan. "Experts from appropriate institutions will be ready to share their expertise and to cooperate in fulfilling all the technical requirements related to the implementation of the action plan," the Lithuanian foreign minister said.

The action plan towards the establishment of a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens was announced during the EU-Ukraine Summit in Brussels on November 22.

According to Minister Azubalis, the action plan provides great impetus for further advancement of relation between the EU and Ukraine.

During the conversation, Minister Gryshchenko thanked Lithuania for its steady support to Ukraine in the area of European integration.

On October 25, at the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg, Minister Azubalis said that the announcement of the action plan had to be the main result of the EU-Ukraine Summit.
