Lithuania and four other countries have suggested that the European Union (EU) should make a so-called Nadiya Savchenko list, with Russian officials on the list imposed sanctions for prosecution of the Ukrainian pilot, Lithuania's Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius confirmed BNS on Wednesday, informs LETA.

"There should be certain consequences for the persons related to the fabricated case. A possibility of such list should be considered," said the minister.

In Linkevicius' words, the initiative is supported by ministers of Sweden, Great Britain, Romania and Poland who will shortly present the proposal to EU's foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.

"Other actions including protests, letters, statements have yielded no result. This is one of the means of pressure," the minister added.

Moscow accuses Savchenko, 34-year-old female Ukrainian pilot, of killing two Russian journalists during the 2014 fighting in Eastern Ukraine. If found guilty, Savchenko would face up to 23 years in prison.

Savchenko denies all accusations and has refused to accept food and water after a court last Thursday adjourned its hearing where the defendant was to make her final statements.
