Ukraine’s free trade pact with EU to allow Lithuanians to save many millions euros

The free trade agreement between the European Union (EU) and Ukraine, which will fully come into force on January 1, 2016, will lower prices for Ukrainian goods in Lithuania and vice versa and will also allow businesses from both countries to save many millions of euros, Deputy Foreign Minister Raimundas Karoblis has said, cites LETA/BNS.

“With all transitional periods ended and with final liberalization of customs duties by Ukraine, the amount of duties levied on the exports of goods of Lithuanian origin will decrease by up to 13 million euros per year. Moreover, new possibilities for the exports of goods and services will emerge,” he said in an interview to the Verslo Zinios business daily.

 

He added that the duty rate applied to Lithuanian bread, pastry, cakes and other bakers’ wares as well as chocolate in Ukraine would decrease by 10%, the rate applied to washing preparations and detergents – by 6.5% and the rate applied to many types of clothes – by 12%.

 

At the same time, the rate applied to cucumbers would go down to 10% within a certain period of time, the rate applied to mushrooms would decrease to 17% and the rate applied to cheese and curd – to 10%.
