Vejonis emphasized that Latvia in the European Union advocates Ukraine's independence and territorial indivisibility. Both Latvia and the EU find it crucial to abide by international laws, and sanctions should be imposed on those who violate them.

Poroshenko thanked Latvia for the favorable view of Ukraine's independence and territorial indivisibility, as well as the active support for Ukraine's integration in Europe.

President of Ukraine also praised the fact that Latvia supported Ukraine in its efforts to become one of the United Nations' Security Council's alternate members.

The Latvian leader is also scheduled to meet with Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Groysman and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk with whom he will participate in the expert round table discussion “Latvia’s Solidarity with Ukraine on its Eurointegration Path”.

Vejonis will also visit the Embassy of Latvia and meet with representatives of the Latvian diaspora in Ukraine.
