The ministers also discussed measures, which could be taken to improve cooperation between law enforcement institutions of the two countries.

Kozlovskis expressed confidence that the signed protocol will give an impulse not only to strengthen current cooperation, but will also contribute for the development of cooperation on new levels.

''Neighboring countries will always have matters that can only be solved through cooperation. We already have successful cooperation between the interior services of our two countries, and we have achieved positive results in such areas as cross-border crime and illegal migration. However, taking into account that the situation continues to change on a constant basis, we have opportunities where we can improve our cooperation,'' Kozlovskis pointed out.
