The meetings will focus on steps that could be taken to strengthen the EU-Belarus relations during the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the EU. Given that the Eastern Partnership, including cooperation with Belarus, is one of the priorities for Latvia’s Presidency, Latvia is interested in achieving progress in the EU-Belarus relations, especially on questions of mobility.

The bilateral relations between Latvia and Belarus will also be on the agenda of the discussions including the political dialogue, business contacts, cross-border cooperation, and cooperation on border management, environmental protection, education, science, culture, and other areas.

Latvian and Belarusian officials plan to discuss regional issues as well, including the developments in Ukraine.
