Lithuania joins Council of Europe's aid to Ukraine

Print versionLithuania will join the Council of Europe's aid to Ukraine. Lithuania's Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, Vytautas Leskevicius, has signed an agreement with the council on Lithuania's voluntary contribution to partially fund the Action Plan for Ukraine, reports LETA/ELTA.

Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni, thanked for Lithuania's input noting the importance of every country's contribution both for Ukraine, which is implementing reforms under extremely difficult conditions, and for the Council of Europe, whose goal is to help countries seek for the highest standards of human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
The Action Plan for Ukraine for 2015-2017 is a joint initiative of the Council of Europe and the Ukrainian government that will provide expertise assistance to Ukraine implementing reforms in the areas of human rights, the rule of law and democracy.
