Khodorkovsky in Vilnius: Russian regime will not change

BC, Vilnius, 16.01.2015.Print version
It is not worth expecting for the Russian President Vladimir Putin's regime to transform, says Mikhail Khodorkovsky, former Russian oil tycoon, former head of the oil company Yukos, cites LETA/ELTA.

"My hopes about transformations inside the regime completely faded after last year's February. I think that it is unrealistic to expect any kind of transformations in the current regime.

Transformation will finally take place outside the system," said Khodorkovsky, who on Friday is taking part in the Vilnius forum of intellectuals "Russia Reality Check".

Putin's opponent pointed to his own prediction about the crisis in Russia's regime in 2014-2015 which now seems to be coming true.

"I did not make this up, this is a kind of Russian political tradition. Putin's regime corresponds this political tradition absolutely and completely, like it was ordered. Year 2014 started, and so "miracles" started," he said.

Khodorkovsky thinks that it is "rather likely" that Putin's regime will seize to exist in the next decade.
