Berzins and Schulz analyze security situation in Europe

Print versionDuring today's meeting with European Parliament (EP) President Martin Schulz and leaders of the EP's political groups, Latvian President Andris Berzins analyzed the security situation in Europe in wake of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Presidential Press Service informed LETA.

During the meeting, the officials assessed challenges the European Union's economic growth is facing, as well as internal political development tendencies. They also analyzed the security situation in Europe in wake of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The officials discussed priorities of Latvia's presidency of the EU Council – strengthening of the EU growth and the EU's global role, especially focusing on Eastern Partnership and Central Asia.
Participants of the meeting exchanged opinions on the course of the events in Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova. They also discussed EU cooperation prospects with Caucasus and Central Asian regions.
Schulz said that Latvia is well prepared for its presidency.
