The foreign committees discussed several acute foreign political issues like the approaching Western partnership summit, relations with the USA and Russia and topics connected to the war areas of the Middle East.

"No matter which issue we would dwell upon, be it economy, foreign politics, defence policy – it is clear that in the global turbulence and dynamics, Estonia and Finland have to closely cooperate with each other," said Riigikogu foreign affairs committee chairman Marko Mihkelson after the meeting.

One of the main issues discussed was Eastern partnership and the Vilnius summit that takes place in two weeks. "What takes place around Eastern partnership is of major importance for the developments in our region. It is a serious test to the ability of the European common politics as well as states that see their future more in harmony with European values and standards than now," said Mihkelson.

Finnish Eduskunta foreign committee chairman Timo Soini and members Mari Kiviniemi, Jörn Donner, Ilkka Kantola and Maria Lohela visited Estonia.
