Estonian PM: Spain can manage its relations on its own

BC, Tallinn, 20.09.2013.Print version
Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip refused to comment at the government's Thursday press conference upon the independence aspirations of Spanish autonomous region Catalonia, saying that Spain can manage its relations without our assessments, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

"Spain is certainly a state of law. I am convinced that in the Spanish state, they can excellently manage all relations without the prime minister of the Estonian Republic having to speculate on these topics," said Ansip, answering the question from the press to give an evaluation of the Estonian government to Catalonia's independence aspirations.

"Spain is a good partner for Estonia, we respect the sovereignty and territorial wholesomeness of Spain and I am convinced that Spain can manage to organise its domestic relations without our speculations."

Latvian and Lithuanian prime ministers have recently voiced supporting opinions about the aspirations of Catalonia for independence, after which Latvian and Lithuanian ambassadors in Madrid were summoned by the Spanish foreign ministry.
