Lithuanian and Dutch cooperation in the energy sector is very important because the Netherlands have a great experience in the gas market, said Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius and encouraged Dutch businessmen to expand their businesses in Lithuania.

On Tuesday, Kubilius said to the Lietuvos Radijas on phone that he has met potential investors, businessmen and representatives of energy companies, writes LETA/ELTA.

"The Netherlands is one of the European gas energy centres. There is quite a number of gas produced and also this centre is very important for gas trading," Kubilius said.

Kubilius said he believes that his visit will bring benefits because business in Netherlands is active and gets the ninth place according to investments in Lithuania. Kubilius says that it is possible for Dutch business to expand in Lithuania.

"We are trying to convince leaders of big companies that investing in European north and north-western countries under present circumstances is more beneficial than investing in southern countries. I believe that the present level of Lithuanian economy growth is a strong argument for Dutch businessmen to consider Lithuania as a country good for investing and developing business," Kubilius said.
