18 new Covid-19 cases registered on Wednesday in Latvia

18 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in Latvia over the past 24 hours, with half of them associated with the outbreak at the Murjani Sport Gymnasium, according to information released by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) writes LETA.

The CDC informs that two of the new infections have returned from abroad - from Serbia and Ireland. Another nine are associated with the outbreak at the Murjani Sports Gymnasium, while epidemiological investigations have been launched for the other seven infected persons.


    Thus, the total number of Covid-19 infections established at the Murjani Sports Gymnasium has risen to 11.


    With 1,829 Covid-19 tests carried out over the past 24 hours, the total number of tests has grown to 207,909. Of the 1,275 Covid-19 cases recorded in Latvia so far, 1,070 patients have recovered and 32 have died from the virus.


    No Covid-19 patients have been hospitalized over the past 24 hours. At present, six Covid-19 patients, all with symptoms of moderate severity, are receiving treatment in hospital.


    In all, 191 patients have so far been discharged from hospitals, but they include both recovered patients and those have died.
