BC, Tallinn, 29.04.2020.Print version
The foreign ministers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania during a video conference on Wednesday discussed the reopening of movement between the countries and cooperation between the Baltic states.

It was found during the meeting that the objective is to achieve a coordinated decision together, and the main topics of the three-way negotiations were agreed upon, spokespeople for the Estonian Foreign Ministry said.

The foreign ministers decided that the ministers in charge of the topics of health should talk about the lifting of restrictions next, and senior officials of the three countries will start consultations over a coordinated approach at the beginning of next week. The next round of negotiations of the foreign ministers will take place on May 8.

Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu voiced appreciation of the close cooperation there has been with Latvia and Lithuania throughout the crisis.

"Close contacts and effective cooperation among the Baltic countries have been very necessary for us in the COVID-19 crisis," Reinsalu said. "Common decisions on the gradual reduction of restrictions are important to again enable cross-border movement, while implementing measures which prevent the additional spread of the virus," the Estonian minister added.
