Covid-19: Lithuania extends control on border with Latvia, Poland until May 14
BC, Vilnius, 24.04.2020.Print version
Border control in Lithuania has been extended until 6 p.m. on May 14, the country's Interior Ministry announced on Friday, writes LETA/BNS.
"We continue border control and we see that our neighboring countries are also taking the same measures to protect their residents. Just as so far, the movement of goods is not restricted, and our key task is to take care of people's safety," Interior Minister Rita Tamasuniene said.
Border control on the borders with Poland and Latvia was extended to ensure the ban for foreign to enter Lithuanian during the quarantine. Temporary border control was restored on March 14.
Lithuania currently bans foreigners from entering to stop the spread of the coronavirus. But foreigners are allowed to cross Lithuanian when travelling to their home countries.
