The Estonian and Swedish Foreign Ministers also discussed alleviating the European refugee crisis. According to Pentus-Rosimannus, Estonia feels that important in solving the crisis are the united activities of Member States and when taking in people fleeing violence, to help them find jobs as soon as possible, which will help them become better accustomed to the society.

“In Estonia we have seen how when our security situation deteriorated, geographically distant countries came to help us. They no doubt could also have said that we have enough concerns at home, try to handle the situation on the eastern border yourselves. This was not the case, because solidarity is not a word to be used lightly; it is one of the most important European values,” Pentus-Rosimannus said. “Now we are ready to participate in helping to solve one of the most acute crises in Europe in a manner which is feasible for us,” she added.

It is also necessary to reach the roots of the problems causing the migration crisis and to find a sustainable solution for them,” the Foreign Minister said and highlighted the importance of cooperation between the EU and UN in the creation of a unity government in Libya.

Foreign Minister Pentus-Rosimannus said the Greek government's decision to withdraw from the conditions of the support program is irresponsible towards its partners, but above all towards the Greek people. “It is important for the Greek government to understand the seriousness of the situation and the need for quick reforms. A referendum cannot be a substitute for reforms,” Foreign Minister Rosimannus stressed.

According to Foreign Minister Pentus-Rosimannus, Estonia and Sweden are close partners both in the Baltic Sea region and in the European Union; they have similar views on major foreign policy issues and very active economic interaction. “Sweden is one of our most important foreign investors and trading partners. Our economies are greatly connected through everyday business activities,” the Foreign Minister said.

Foreign Minister Pentus-Rosimannus also highlighted the good cooperation between Estonia and Sweden in the field of development cooperation.

Pentus-Rosimannus and Wallström also spoke about the situation in Ukraine, security issues, EU Eastern Partnership, regional cooperation, issues related to the Arctic Council and the future of the European Union.
