Latvian MFA calls on EU Member States to swiftly ratify the Association Agreement with Moldova

Edgars Rinkevics called on the Government of Moldova to move on with its economic reforms, strengthening the justice system and the fight against corruption, to resume a regular dialogue with Transnistria and to make every effort to engage Transnistria in the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement between the European Union (EU) and Moldova, thereby facilitating Transnistria’s integration into Moldova.
The Latvian Foreign Minister invited Moldova to present its ideas for the Riga Summit on Eastern Partnership so that decisions could be made on further practical EU support for Moldova on its path to closer integration with the EU.
Edgars Rinkevics said he is convinced that it is essential for Moldova to continue efforts on the reintegration of the country with a special focus on Gagauzia.
On 16 and 17 March, Foreign Minister Rinkevics is taking part in the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council and the General Affairs Council in Brussels.
