She said that in regard to solving the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the EU needs to use several strategic elements – both sanctions and cooperation channels, in order to find a solution.

''The Latvian Presidency can ensure a balanced approach towards solving this matter,'' she said, adding that the EU has various instruments at its disposal, and it must think of the best possible way to use these instruments.

Today, European commissioners are paying a traditional visit to the country presiding over the Council of the European Union, during which it will address the priorities of the Latvian Presidency and facilitate the dialogue between social partners, NGOs and society, on one hand, and the European Commission, on the other hand.
