EU heads of state and government voiced their support to Ukraine's new coalition government. According to the President, this government has an important task not only to restore peace and stability in the country, but also to responsibly implement the reforms needed for the well-being of Ukraine and its people. The President underlined that the overall success of Ukrainian reforms would depend on the capacity of Ukraine to eradicate corruption.

EU leaders discussed the economic and financial situation in Ukraine and committed to continue supporting reforms in this country. At the beginning of December, the European Commission allocated €500 million support to Ukraine. Lithuania has also provided assistance, amounting to more than 2 million litas this year.

European leaders further deepened the policy of not recognizing the annexation of Crimea by imposing strict restrictions on EU investments and business development in this region.

President Grybauskaite noted that the European Union must maintain a unified and unwavering position in relation to the aggressor. Any mitigation of sanctions or dialogue with Russia is possible only if the Minsk peace agreements are met and Ukraine's territorial integrity is restored.
