Latvian Culture Ministry's priority in 2013 – successful organization of cultural events

The Culture Ministry's 2013 budget priority will be ensuring that cultural events of national importance are held successfully, therefore not only the culture sector, but the entire society will benefit if the government approves allotting funds necessary for priority measures in culture in the amount of LVL 9.8 million.

 

The priority measures, which are also included in the government's declaration and action plan, include successful organization of the Song and Dance Festival, Riga – the 2014 European Capital of Culture, completing the construction of the Latvian National Library, increasing funds to the State Culture Capital Foundation, LETA was informed by the culture minister's public relations adviser Ieva Line.

 

LVL 2.43 million is to be allotted to the Song and Dance Festival, LVL 1.64 million – Riga as the European Capital of Culture, LVL 1.15 million – the Latvian National Library. Local governments are to receive LVL 491,000 for the organization of the Song and Dance Festival.

 

The State Culture Capital Foundation is to be allocated LVL 1.5 million, the Latvian National Opera and theaters – LVL 1.13 million.

 

LVL 542,000 will be allotted to state music and art school teachers for a motivation program and bonuses in 2013.
