For the first time in the history Lithuanian basketball team did not qualify to the semifinals of the Olympic Games. Our basketball team lost 74:83 to the Russian team in the quarterfinals, on Wednesday, reports LETA/ELTA/Respublika.

The coach of Lithuanian team Kestutis Kemzura does not know whether he will continue working with the team. Russians were leading almost the entire match. "The beginning was emotionally tense not only for us but also for the opponents. We could not score at all and we made a few mistakes in the defence and they ran away," said Kemzura.

So far, Lithuanian basketball team had always qualified for the semi-finals of the Olympic Games (in 1992, 1996 and 2000). They won the bronze medal in 2004 and in 2008 they came in at the fourth place.
