Vilnius to hold a record picnic with traditional food and Georgian Borjomi
On Friday afternoon Vilnius residents and guests are invited to a record size Lithuanian picnic next to the White Bridge. The aim of the picnic is to raise public awareness about the importance of nutrition and encourage urban residents to break away from their intensive day work at least for a lunch, writes LETA/ELTA.
Nutritionist Laisvune Petkeviciene says that nowadays busy people rarely find some time for a healthy food option at lunch time. According to the expert, fresh air dining allows forgetting one's daily worries and troubles for some minutes.
Ieva Semerikovaite, marketing manager of natural Georgian mineral Borjomi which initiated the picnic idea also agrees with the nutritionist.
"The results of our polls showed that half of Lithuanians admit they eat unhealthy and 50.4 percent of them said they never dine in open air. We would like to see the situation changing and more people breaking away from their busy pace of life by eating in parks and other green spaces in cities. We hope that this record breaking picnic will draw the attention of Lithuanians and urge them to join us," she said.
The organisers of the event say that picnickers will receive gift from Borjomi – natural Georgian mineral water and traditional Lithuanian food brought from local farmers.
