Kremerata Baltica music festival ends today in Latvia

The ninth "Kremerata Baltica" music festival "Serenata Jubilate", dedicated to the anniversaries of renowned Latvian/German violinist Gidon Kremer and "Grammy" award winning Baltic chamber music ensemble "Kremerata Baltica", will conclude in Riga today, LETA was informed by the festival's director Inese Zagorska.

 "Serenata Jubilate" closing concert will take place at 7 p.m. at Riga's Great Guild Hall, featuring conductor and cellist Mario Brunello and soloists Brunello, Reinis Zarins, Andrey Pushkarev.

 The concert's program: Guillaume Lekeu, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giovanni Sollima. As reported, Kremer, who serves as "Kremerata Baltica" artistic director and solo violinist, formed the orchestra in 1997.

 "Kremerata Baltica" was awarded a "Grammy" award in 2002 in the category "Classical Music: Best Small Ensemble Recording" for its recording "After Mozart" (Nonesuch). They were nominated again in 2003 for their recording of works by Enescu.

The musical collective has played in many of the world’s most famous concert halls, including "Carnegie Hall" in New York, "Musikverein" in Vienna and the "Royal Albert Hall" in London.
