Print versionRiigikogu will again start proceedings on the draft Equal Treatment Act which it unexpectedly failed to adopt.
The Board of Riigikogu entered the draft Equal Treatment Act into the list of legislative proposals processed by the Parliament, initiated by the Reform Party, the Social Democrats’ Party and by the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union factions, writes Postimees Online.
On Wednesday the law was surprisingly not adopted, despite the fact that it was the coalition draft as one vote was short of the required 51 votes. 33 opposition MPs were against the draft law.
In the debates before the voting the idea to oblige the Gender Equality Commissioner to deal with the other complaints on discrimination as well caused the most disputes.
