Today, on February 16, Lithuania marks the Day of Restoration of the State Independence. The day is a national holiday in Lithuania, informs LETA/ELTA.

On February 16, in the morning, the signatories of the Act of Independence have been honored at Rasu cemetery in Vilnius.

Later, state award and National Culture and Arts Prizes awarding has been started at the Presidential Palace.

At noon, Vilnius residents will be invited to attend a solemn flag-raising ceremony at Simonas Daukantas square during which President Dalia Grybauskaite and Poland's President Bronislaw Komorowski will deliver welcome speeches, and later, to attend he mass celebrated at Vilnius Cathedral.

The commemoration of February 16 will also be held at the house of the Signatories of the Act of Independence and at the square near the Ministry of National Defense.

National Day celebrations will culminate in a concert at the National Philharmonic Hall which will be patronized by the president. The funds received for the tickets sold will be allocated to support young musicians.
