Novosjolov and Shmigun-Vähi declared Estonia’s best athletes of 2010

Print versionFencer Nikolai Novosjolov and cross-country skier Kristina Shmigun-Vähi were awarded the titles of the best male and female athlete of the year 2010 at a gala held on Sunday, writes LETA/National Broadcasting.
The annual titles are awarded by the Estonian Olympic Committee on the basis of votes taken by journalists, sports unions and by members of the public.
Novosjolov won the individual epee title at the World Fencing Championships in November. Shmigun-Vähi received the award for the eighth time and likely the last time for the 33-year-old athlete announced her retirement from sports earlier this year.
