This winter in Latvia to be a bit colder than previous winters

The average temperature during the winter 2009-2010 in Latvia will be a bit colder than previous years, as the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Agency informed LETA.

 

According to meteorologists, the average temperature this December will be a bit bellow the norm, as will in January as well. Wintery weather conditions are also in the forecast for January.

 

The average temperature this winter will be around minus 6.8 degrees Celsius in eastern regions of the country, and minus 2.5 degrees Celsius in coastal regions.

 

According to data, the warmest winters in Latvia's history were recorded in 1924/1925, 1988/1989 and 1989/1990. The average temperature during these months was above zero degrees Celsius.

 

The coldest winter in Latvia was in 1941/1942. The average temperature that winter was minus 10 degrees Celsius.
