Lithuanian basketball specialist Kestutis Kemzura, who was the coach of the Latvian national men's basketball team during this year's European Men's Basketball Championships in Poland, is one of the main candidates to coach the Lithuanian men's team.

According to Lithuanian media, the other candidates to coach the Lithuanian national team is current Greek national team head coach Jonas Kazlauskas, and the head coach of Lithuanian basketball club Vilnius ''Lietuvos rytas'' Rimas Kurtinaitis.

As reported, the previous head coach of the Lithuanian national men's basketball team Ramunas Butautas stepped down after the European Championships.

LETA also reported, Kemzura was appointed as the head coach of the national men's basketball team in December of last year. His contract ended after this year's European Men's Basketball Championships.

The Latvian Basketball Association (LBA) has offered Kemzura to extend his contract with the national team. He has been given until October 15 to make his decision. Kemzura has confirmed that he will seriously consider the offer.
