Advance voting in presidential elections begins in Lithuania

On Wednesday, advance voting in presidential elections began. It will be also possible to vote in special post offices, informs ELTA.

 

Advance voting will be held on May 13 and 14 from 12:00 to 20:00.

 

Those electors who cannot arrive to voting constituencies on the day of elections will be able to cast their votes in advance. Advance voting is organized by the election commissions of municipalities.

 

It will be possible to express political will in special posts on May 13, 14 and 15.

 

In line with the schedule made by the Central Electoral Commission (VRK), voting at home will be held on May 15 and 16 from 8:00 to 20:00.

 

On May 17, from 7:00 to 20:00, Lithuanian residents will be electing the new president in their election constituencies.

 

Seven candidates are competing for the presidential post. They are European Commissioner Dalia Grybauskaite, MP Algirdas Butkevicius, leader of the Social Democratic Party, MP Loreta Grauziniene representing the Labor Party, MP Valentinas Mazuronis nominated by the political party Order and Justice, MP Valdemaras Tomasevskis, leader of the Lithuanian Polish Election Action (LLRA), reserve brigade general Ceslovas Jezerskas and Kazimira Prunskiene, honorary chairwoman of the National Farmers' Union.
