Soldiers in Columbia and United Arab Emirates use Estonian Warfare Tech

BC, Tallinn, 03.03.2009.Print version

Estonia, being a member of Nato, with the population of only 1,4 million, has its own tiny defence industry, and the flagship inventor in Estonia is ELI – a market leader in The Baltics to develop and produce simulators and other training systems for police and defence forces which are exported all over the world, Tigerprises/LETA reported.

Simulators, meaning virtual battlegrounds, is one thing ELI knows about. Soldiers in Estonia, Georgia, Latvia and United Arab Emirates use Estonian simulations. But the giant Saab and many other companies know about simulators as well, so for a small company from Estonia, it is pretty difficult to compete in the global market, even if it has the best software in the world.

But the one thing nobody else knows better than ELI is how to get perfect recoil and reload solution to use it in firearms in simulators. One option is using laser beam, but it doesn't create the real impression of shooting.

ELI has invented and patented an unique way to recoil and reload – they use CO2 gas for that. The solution wassold all around the world – to France, UK, USA, Malaysia, Columbia, United Arab Emirates etc.

Another Estonian company – Rantelon – operates in the "battle front" of Estonian defence industry.
