Estonia to organise its population census on 2011
The Population Policy Council of Estonia discussed problems related to organising the census in 2011 where it turned out that the State does not know the place of residence of 20% of its residents, writes EPL Online/LETA.
According to the State Chancellery, Estonia will have to organise the population census in 2011 at the latest and this is the first opportunity to find out more precisely the number of people residing in Estonia, the gender structure, migration movements, composition of households and other data necessary for the political decision-making process.
At the moment, Estonia does not have a certain overview of its population – data on the population of Estonia vary in the range of 46,000 and there are no precise data on the nationality and ethnicity of people residing in Estonia.
