A baby girl was left in the Baby Box at the Children's Clinical University Hospital in Riga on Friday, LETA was informed by the hospital's spokeswoman Dace Zaldate-Rozentale.

The little girl weighs just below seven kilograms and seems in good health, the hospital informs.

This is the first infant left at the hospital's Baby Box this year.

The first Baby Box was opened in Latvia in the territory of the Children's Clinical University Hospital in Riga in 2009, and more Baby Boxes were opened in some other towns across the country. 

Since 2009, 50 infants have been left in Baby Boxes throughout Latvia.
