Three 15 to 17 meters tall Christmas trees chosen to decorate Riga squares

BC, Riga , 19.11.2020.Print version

Three 15 to 17 meters high Christmas trees have been selected to decorate Riga's squares for this year's winter holidays, Elizabete Ronija Dreimane, a spokeswoman for Rigas Mezi municipal forest manager, informed LETA.

Traditionally, the Riga mayor together with Rigas Mezi representatives visits one of the municipal forests to pick Christmas trees for Riga's squares. This year, however, mayor Martins Stakis (For Development/For/Progressives) was unable to follow this tradition as he is currently in self-isolation after a contact with a Covid-19-positive person.

Rigas Mezi CEO Aivars Taurins and Tireli district forester Andris Geidans selected and cut the three Christmas trees at the Tireli forestry.

The Christmas trees will installed in Dome Square, City Hall Square and November 11 Embankment.
