Ostapenko defeats 5-seeded Martic in first round of Ostrava Open

Print versionLatvia's highest-ranked tennis player Alona Ostapenko routed the fifth-seeded Petra Martic (Croatia) 6-3, 6-1 in the first round of the Ostrava Open tennis tournament on Wednesday, informs LETA.
Ostapenko, who received a wildcard into the tournament, is currently ranked 44th in the WTA rankings, while Martic is ranked 18th.
Ostapenko has earned 55 WTA ranking points for reaching the second round of the Ostrava Open.
Ostapenko will face Ons Jabeur of Tunisia (32nd in WTA rankings) in the second round of the tournament.
