Latvia loses to Malta in UEFA Nations League match

Print versionThe Latvian football team lost a UEFA Nations League (Group D) match to Malta 0:1 at the Daugava Stadium in Riga last night, writes LETA.
Steve Borg scored the winner for Malta in the 96th minute.
This was Malta's first away win since June 2013.
In the Group D standings at the moment, the Faroe Island are in first place with seven points, followed by Malta with five points, Latvia with three points and Andorra with two points.
The winner of the group will earn promotion to Group C.
Latvia is currently ranked 137th in the FIFA rankings, while Malta is ranked 186th.
Latvia will play its final two group matches against the Faroe Islands and Andorra in November.
