Latvian Football Federation expresses to FIFA its readiness to host football related events in Latvia
The Latvian Football Federation (LFF) has expressed to the
International Association of Football Federations (FIFA) its readiness to host
football events in Latvia, reports LETA.
LFF informs that the president of the organization Vadims
Lasenko together with the leaders of six other national associations on Tuesday
participated in an online video conference with FIFA President Gianni
Infantino.
During the conversation, the consequences and impact of the
Covid-19 pandemic on the course of football at all levels were discussed, as
well as the issues relevant to each federation domestically. Representatives of
the federations also highlighted from their point of view the important aspects
of football development on which to continue working on.
Lasenko informed the president of FIFA that the favorable
health situation in Latvia and the activities of the LFF have allowed to
complete the domestic futsal championship, resume competitions for adults,
youth and children, as well as successfully ensure compliance with all sanitary
requirements.
"Against the background of the world, Latvia can
provide quite unique opportunities to gather of up to three thousand people
outdoors, so on behalf of the LFF I emphasized that if necessary, Latvia is
ready to safely host a neutral match or a conference," the LFF quoted
Lasenko as saying.
The leaders of the Lithuanian, Estonian, Israeli, Romanian,
Slovak and Polish football federations, as well as representatives of UEFA also
took part in the conversation.
