Some 30 pieces of WWII-era ordnance disarmed in Viru region

Explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) teams of the rescue center for East Estonia rendered harmless about 30 pieces of war-era munitions in East- and West-Viru counties on Wednesday, informs LETA/BNS.


In the town of Narva-Joesuu in East-Viru County, EOD teams disarmed 22 different pieces of ordnance found in a forest in Auvere village. They also rendered harmless an artillery shell found during digging work in the town of Sillamae, spokespeople for the rescue center for East Estonia said.


In West-Viru County, EOD personnel rendered harmless five gun grenades found in Ragavere village in the territory of the Rakvere municipality.
