Lithuania’s President Gitanas Nauseda and Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis will next week pay a visit to Poland to take part in the commemoration of the 610th anniversary of the Battle of Zalgiris (Grunwald), informed LETA/BNS.

During the visit, Nauseda will meet with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda and discuss _inter alia_ the European Union’s (EU) agenda, plans pertaining to the Eastern Partnership initiatives and relations with Russia.

The visit’s agenda would also include the implementation of infrastructure projects as well as the issues pertaining to the prohibition of market access for electricity from the Astravyets nuclear power plant in Belarus and other unsafe third country sources, Antanas Bubnelis, spokesman for the president, told.

Lithuania’s leader would visit Poland on Wednesday next week.

Meanwhile, Skvernelis will depart to Poland next Tuesday and will meet with his Polish counterpart Mateusz Morawiecki. Later he would take part in the commemoration of the Zalgiris battle anniversary, Tomas Berzinskas, prime minister’s spokesman, confirmed.

The Battle of Zalgiris, which was fought on July 15, 1410 near Grunwald, was one of the major battles of the epoch.

The alliance of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, led by Polish King Jogaila and Lithuanian Grand Duke Vytautas, defeated the German–Prussian Teutonic knights.
