Polish president Andrzej Duda on Thursday invited Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda to the commemoration of the 610th anniversary of the Battle of Zalgiris (Grunwald) next year, informed LETA/BNS.

Nauseda spontaneously accepted the invitation during a press conference in Vilnius.

"I am inviting you to the 610th anniversary of the Battle of Zalgiris. I believe we'll have many re-enactors who will nicely re-enact the course of that major battle and we will be able to enjoy the Polish-Lithuanian victory once again," Duda said.

"The Polish president invited me so spontaneously (…), so I accepted the invitation just as spontaneously," Nauseda said.

The Battle of Zalgiris was fought July 15, 1410 near Grunwald was one of the major battles of the epoch. The alliance of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, led by Polish King Jogaila and Lithuanian Grand Duke Vytautas, defeated the German–Prussian Teutonic knights.
