Ostapenko reaches quarter-final of Luxembourg Open

Latvia's second-ranked women's tennis player Alona Ostapenko today defeated top-seed Elise Mertens 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 to reach the quarter finals of the Luxembourg Open, reported LETA.

Ostapenko, currently 63rd in the WTA ranking, is playing as a wildcard entrant at the WTA tournament, while Mertens is 19th in the WTA ranking.

Ostapenko earned 60 WTA points for getting to the quarter-finals where he will face the winner of the match between two Germans - Antonia Lottner and Andrea Petkovic.
