Estonian president meets with Finnish PM in Tallinn

Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid met with the newly-appointed Finnish Prime Minister Antti Rinne in Kadriorg on Friday to discuss relations between the two states and topics regarding the European Union and the Baltic Sea region.

The Estonian head of state and the Finnish premier discussed opportunities for environmental cooperation, particularly in the Baltic Sea. Kaljulaid said that she seeks to raise awareness of environmental issues, particularly of climate problems, during the second half of her term as president.

The topics discussed also included the security of the region and the defense initiatives of the European Union, as well as Estonia's successful campaign for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council and the state's further plans as a member.

This visit to Estonia was the first foreign visit for Rinne during his term as the prime minister of Finland.
