The Cabinet gave on Wednesday the go-ahead for the Lithuanian Rowing Federation to submit the country's bid to the International Rowing Federation.
The government plans to allocate 2 mln euros for the tournament events.
Lithuania would play host to the World Rowing Championships for the first time.
Serbia is also vying to host the 2023 World Rowing Championships, where athletes will compete for spots at the 2024 Olympics.
