Ostapenko loses to Brady in first round of Dubai Tennis Championships

Print versionLatvia's Alona Ostapneko was defeated by American Jennifer Brady 4-6, 0-6 in the first round of the Dubai Tennis Championships on Monday, reported LETA/BNS.
The Latvian has earned one WTA ranking point at the tournament.
After a back-and-forth first set in which Brady prevailed 6-4, Ostapenko could not win a single game in the second, and the final score was 6-4, 6-0 for Brady. After the fifth game in the second set, Ostapenko had a medical timeout to treat a back problem.
Ostapenko is ranked 22nd in WTA rankings, while Brady is ranked 117th.
As reported, Latvia's top-ranked lady tennis player Anastasija Sevastova lost to Taiwan's Su-Wei Hsieh 4-6, 2-6 in the opening round of the tournament on Sunday.
