Toomas Edur not to continue as artistic director of Estonian National Ballet

The contract of Toomas Edur as artistic director of the Estonian National Ballet expires this year and the National Ballet has decided not to extend it, according the public broadcaster ERR information reported LETA/BNS.


Edur started work as artistic director of the Estonian National Ballet in 2009. 


After graduating from Tallinn Ballet School in 1988, Edur worked as principal dancer at the Estonian National Ballet until 1990. In 1990-1996 he was the principal dancer with the English National Ballet, in 1996-1997 with Birmingham Royal Ballet, and from 1998-2009 again with the English National Ballet. During his career as a dancer he also danced as a guest artist on many renowned stages, including Teatro alla Scala, Staatsoper Berlin, Cape Town City Ballet, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Finnish National Ballet, Noriko Kobayashi Ballet, Dutch National Ballet and Houston Ballet.
