Flu has claimed the first two lives in Latvia this winter, according to the data of the Center for Disease Prevention and Control.

Both patients had tested positive for influenza and were not vaccinated against the infection.

The two flu victims are men aged between 30 and 59.

Last winter, flu killed 91 people in Latvia and 75 people died of flu a year before.

As reported, a flu epidemic was declared in Latvia last week as flu incidence in the northern Latvian city Valmiera reached epidemic level.
