33 have tried to illegally enter Estonia from Russia during Football World Cup

BC, Tallinn, 13.07.2018.Print version

Thirty-three people lacking a visa, whose apparent goal was to move on to western member states of the European Union, have attempted to enter Estonia with a fan pass of the Football World Cup in Russia, reported LETA/BNS according to the Postimees information.

Estonian border guards have detained and turned back at the border checkpoint of Narva 19 Nigerian citizens, nine citizens of Senegal, one Pakistani citizen and one Haitian citizen. On the Estonian-Russian border in southeast Estonia three persons -- one citizen of Eritrea and two Bangladeshis having a World Cup fan pass -- were apprehended on an attempt to illegally cross the border in June.

Russia has allowed into its territory without a visa foreign nationals who have obtained a ticket to a World Cup match and a fan ID, on the condition that they will leave Russia by July 26.

The finals of the Football World Cup will be played on July 15.
