Ostapenko knocked out of Wimbledon

Latvia's top-ranked lady tennis player Alona Ostapenko lost to Germany's Angelique Kerber 3-6, 3-6 in the semifinals of the Wimbledon Grand Slam tennis tournament today, reports LETA.

This was Ostapenko's best-ever performance at Wimbledon.

At the moment, Ostapenko is ranked 12th in the WTA rankings, while Kerber is ranked 11th.

Ostapenko, who triumphed at last year's French Open, has earned 780 WTA ranking points for advancing to the semifinals of Wimbledon.
