Latvian forward Lauris Darzins has extended his contract with Latvian ice hockey club Riga Dinamo, the club has informed LETA.

Darzins re-joined the Latvian club in 2014 after spending several seasons in Russia.

In 442 Kontinental Ice Hockey League (KHL) matches in his career, Darzins has scored 93 goals and made 136 assists.

Before joining the KHL, the 31-year-old Darzins played in North America, Finland, the Czech Republic and Belarus.

He has suited up for Latvian at eight World Championships and two Olympics games.

In 24 matches for Dinamo last season, Darzins, who missed the first half of the season due to injury, scored five goals and made 13 assists.

Dinamo finished in last place in the KHL's Western Conference standings this past season, failing to qualify for the league playoffs for the fourth season in a row.
