Other events in Baltic States

The 15th annual Battle of Towers round-the-clock bird watching event will be taking place across Latvia on May 19 and 20, with 19 teams of birders registered for the competition, LETA was told at the Latvian Ornithology Society.

Everyone will be invited to visit the bird watching towers during the competition. The teams, which this year include 74 birders in total, will tell the visitors about the birds in the area and the competition.

Fifteen teams of experienced bird watchers will be counting bird species from their towers for 24 hours and four less experienced teams will be competing in bird watching for four hours.

Last year, 18 teams of 72 birders took part in the Battle of Towers, observing a total of 185 bird species and welcoming 388 visitors to the bird watching towers.
