Other events in Baltic States

Latvia will mark the Freedom Month in May with different culture and sports events, said Latvian Culture Minister Dace Melbarde (National Alliance) in an opening event by the Freedom Monument today, reports LETA.

One of the central events will be the White Tablecloth Celebration on May 4, the Day of the Restoration of Latvia's Independence. These events will be held across Latvia.

The Freedom Street Story initiative will also be opened on that day with events dedicated to freedom in Latvia’s nine largest cities. The National History Museum of Latvia will open a joint exhibition of Latvian museums Latvia’s Century, Art Museum Riga Bourse will open an exhibition Art Noveau. Its Beginnings, Influences and Original Nature, while Riga St.Peter’s Church will present a photo exhibition on the Freedom Monument.

There will be concerts held on May 4 at the Great Guild and the Latvian National Library.

May 5 will continue with the Strong Run in Kegums county, while every Latvian and friend of Latvia to jog a route resembling the geographic shape of Latvia.

Several forums and seminars, as well as film screenings will be held in May dedicated to Latvia’s history.

On May 19, Lattelecom Riga Marathon will be organized and later the Museum Night will be held across Latvia.
